How to Remove Sweat Stains from your Clothes
Wild
Oh no! You’ve got the dreaded yellow marks. Here’s how to remove sweat stains from your clothes.
Sweating is good. Sweat stains? Less great. We’ve all been there: you work up a sweat and find (to your horror) that there are yellow stains left behind where your armpits have been. Well, don’t worry: you can get rid of sweat stains pretty easily. Here’s our definitive guide to removing sweat stains from clothes. And that’s not all, we’ll also run you through preventing sweat stains, too.
So, why do sweat stains even happen?
Sweat stains can feel embarrassing, but they’re completely normal. The really simple explanation is the stains are caused by a build up of blocked sweat reacting with ingredients in certain types of antiperspirant or deodorant. This chemical reaction can make your pits go a bit yellow.
Does Wild deodorant stain clothes?
Wild Stick Deodorant doesn’t contain any aluminium salts, so it won’t create yellow stains on your clothes. Our nourishing, creamy formula can sometimes leave small (and very washable) white marks, but these aren’t a stain and can be easily dealt with. In fact, we think our 0% aluminium formula is possibly the best deodorant for stopping sweat stains.

Want to remove sweat stains from clothes? Here’s how…
How to prevent sweat stains on clothes in the first place?
The best way to deal with sweat stains is to avoid getting them in the first place. In fact, we recommend our 0% aluminium deodorant for exactly this reason! If that’s not possible – and you get some yellow staining from an antiperspirant – here’s how to deal with it.
Removal of yellow sweat stains from white shirts
First, treat the stain. You can use a specific stain removal product – or make a paste of bicarbonate of soda with water. Alternatively, white vinegar is also very good for removing stains. Rub your stain removal treatment into the affected area.
Then, leave the treatment in place for 20 minutes (at least!). You need to let the stain removal solution work its magic.
Next, put your stained clothing into a regular wash – without removing the stain removal treatment. Don’t do anything differently to a normal wash – a specialised hot wash could actually fix the stain in place instead.
Finally, allow the clothing to dry and check the stain has been removed. If the sweat stain still remains, repeat the process until the stain has gone.
What about armpit hair? Does that cause sweat stains?
Everyone is different when it comes to armpit hair. And we don’t think pit hair automatically causes yellow armpit stains. However, we do think that hairier pits, especially with longer hair, can be more susceptible to a build up of blocked sweat, which can result in staining when your sweat protection is breached.
Of course, we recommend using a 98% natural origin deodorant, that has no aluminium in the formula to reduce your worry about armpit stains.
